In 1989, while enjoying a successful career as a manager with Eastern Airlines, Lewis began volunteering as a patient/family volunteer with Hospice of Hillsborough. When Eastern Airlines went out of business in 1991, he felt led to pursue his passion for serving others dealing with end of life issues into a new career path. In 1991, he returned to school to prepare academically to follow his dream. Lewis currently holds an Associate of Science degree in Human Services; a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development, and a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling. He is currently licensed by the State of Florida as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC # MH8822). Joining Hospice of Hillsborough (currently LifePath Hospice, Inc.) as an employee in 1993, He has served for six years as a Grief Counselor in the Bereavement Department.

The experience of grief and bereavement is often a very confusing and lonely experience. A loss of any type often shakes one’s confidence and creates a sense of the loss of personal power and control. My goal, and my passion, is to join with the grieving person on their unique journey through the “wilderness of grief”.
